Site Maintenance

At Experts@IT, we provide regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly site maintenance visits to a large number of businesses throughout Broken Hill. During these visits, we perform checks against an extensive list of items ensuring things like backups are being performed correctly, internet security software is in place and up to date, printers have adequate ink or toner and UPS units are operational to name a few. We also install operating system updates to ensure your systems have the latest security patches installed. These visits also provide an opportunity to discuss any IT related issues with our experienced technicians. Our goal in providing site maintenance is to proactively identify problems before they become critical. Of course there are always times when equipment fails suddenly or an event occurs (such as an electrical storm) which causes technical problems. We cater for this as part of our Site Maintenance Agreements by including an additional allowance of time for any ad-hoc work arising during the month. Our site maintenance visits, like servicing your car, provide peace of mind knowing that an experienced technician is performing detailed checks of your systems on a regular basis, reducing the risk of costly unplanned outages and lost productivity within your business.

Desktop and Laptop Computers

We are able to supply a large range of Desktop and Laptop (Notebook) Computers. As local authorised service agents for HP, Apple and Acer, it’s reassuring to know that should something go wrong with your computer, you won’t have to send it away to be repaired. There is so much more to choosing a computer than just the price and colour. We’ll identify the best computer to suit your needs and the needs of your business. Onsite installation is part of our service. By the time we’ve finished, your new computer will be ready to use. We can even transfer data from your old computer if you need us to. Call or email us today for an obligation free quote.

Choosing the right software is as important as choosing the right computer. In addition to traditional PC software, the internet has presented a huge range of “cloud” based applications making it harder than ever to decide which is best for your business. Our Technicians and IT Consultants have a broad software knowledge and can help you find the right applications to meet your needs and increase the efficiency of your business.

Servers and Networks

Servers are the hub of business computing. They provide central file storage, centralised email & application management and even remote access for when you or your team need to access your systems from home or on the road. A Server usually goes hand in hand with a computer network which allows multiple computers to access the server. Installation of these systems requires specialist skills and our technicians have the experience to configure a server and network to meet your needs, today and into the future.

Having an adequate backup regime in place is critical for every business.  Hard drives are the most common computer system component which fails and if yours fails and you don’t have a backup, the road to recovery is expensive and often impossible.  What would the impact to your business be if you lost all your data? Experts@IT are able to put in place a backup system which will ensure your data is safe.  Offsite storage of data is often overlooked.  Our system provides a reliable onsite backup accompanied by a simple offsite storage solution. Backup monitoring is included for businesses with Site Maintenance Agreements. A proper backup system is an insurance policy for your data.  Don’t be caught unprotected!

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies)

With Broken Hill’s power supply regularly experiencing outages, spikes or brown outs (voltage drops), it is highly recommended that computers and associated equipment like network switches and modems are connected to mains power via a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). A UPS performs several functions. Firstly, it acts as a backup power source providing power to equipment instantaneously when the mains power fails. This is achieved via an array of batteries which are kept charged when the UPS is under normal mains power operation. The period of time the UPS is able to supply power to connected equipment is dependent on the power drawn by that equipment and the size or VA rating of the UPS. The higher the rating, the more power that is stored and hence the longer it is able to supply backup power. Some UPS units will connect to a PC or server via a USB or Ethernet cable allowing them to communicate power status and other information. This means when a power outage occurs, the UPS can advise the system when it’s batteries are almost exhausted and the system will perform an orderly shutdown. This minimises the risk of corrupted files and data loss which can result when an abnormal shutdown occurs after a sudden power loss. UPS units also perform a voltage regulation function, providing a constant power output to connected equipment during power spikes and brown outs. This again protects your equipment from damage and/or data loss. A UPS is a relatively inexpensive way to keep your expensive IT equipment safe. If you would like more information on how a UPS can protect your systems, call or email us today.

AdSL & Wireless Broadband Modems and Routers

We keep a range of quality AdSL modem/routers and Wireless Access Points in stock for when you need a new modem in a hurry. We can also come and install and configure it for you. If it’s wireless broadband that you need, we can also assist you with a 3G or 4G modem through our affiliation with the Broken Hill Telstra Shop.

Wi-Fi Hotspots

The internet has become an integral part of our lives and everywhere we go, we expect to be able to get connected whenever we want to. Being able to provide a quality Wi-Fi internet service in your establishment can mean the difference between someone patronising your business or the one down the street. People are becoming less willing to pay for Wi-Fi so while you want to provide a quality service, you don’t want it to cost a fortune. Experts@IT use the Ubiquiti UniFi system to provide an excellent Wi-Fi hotspot at a reasonable cost.   The system allows for the internet to be provided for free or for a fee.   You can also limit download speeds to minimise the impact on your own internet needs. Indoor and outdoor units are available catering for a range of environments. Don’t let your competitors provide a better internet service than you.  Contact us for a no obligation consultation and quote.

Phone Systems

The days of complicated and expensive PABX systems are gone thanks to IP phones. These phones use the same network your computers run on to route your voice calls. For businesses who have a local area network (LAN) installed, this means much of the infrastructure is already in place. For those who don’t maybe it’s time to think about installing one. You’ll then have a network for your computers and your phones. Experts@IT have technicians who are trained in the installation and configuration of IP phone systems. They can design a system with flexibility to meet your needs now and into the future.

CCTV Systems

In today’s society, CCTV is as much a deterrent as it is a means to record behaviours and incidents within a business. CCTV system quality varies greatly and while a cheap set of cameras might act as a deterrent, if it comes to having to identify an offender from the footage, a blurry, grainy image is not going to be much help. Likewise, if you don’t have a quality video recorder, even the best footage is worthless if it is recorded over in a short period of time due to a lack of storage capacity. Our CCTV systems are the latest digital IP based systems which are cheaper to cable than the old analog systems, provide superior picture quality and come with NVR (Network Video Recorder) units which have ample video storage and room for expansion if you need to extend the system later.

Point of Sale (POS) with Kounta

Kounta Partner
Point of Sale systems have come a long way since the days of the “dumb” cash register which didn’t do much more than keep track of accumulated sales during the day. Today, your cash register can be a number of different devices from PCs or Macs to iPads or Android Tablets. Setup and reporting can be done from anywhere there’s an internet connection and the system is so easy to use, you won’t have to spend hour upon hour training your staff. As Kounta Specialist Partners, Experts@IT can help get you up and running with a POS system that will help you run your business more efficiently and effectively. We’ll supply the hardware you need and help setup the Kounta system, training you along the way.
